Police kill two robbers, recover arms in Lagos

The Lagos State police command yesterday killed two suspected armed robbers, who allegedly robbed customers at a petrol station in Isolo area of the state.
Spokesperson of the police in Lagos, Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the killing, noted that operatives of the Isolo police division recorded the ‘success’.
According to her, “the Lagos State Police Command through its operatives from Isolo division, today (Tuesday) at about 1100hrs, received a distress call from members of the public that some armed robbers who were operating on two motorcycles, fired at a man while buying fuel at a filling station by Oke Afa bus stop Isolo and snatched away an undisclosed amount of money from him.
“Upon the information received that they were heading towards Okota. The DPO, Etim Godwin, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), mobilized the foot patrol and vehicular patrolmen who trailed the robbers to Limca way, Isolo.
“The robbers on sighting the police team opened fire while the police responded. Consequently, two of the robbers fell in the gun duel while two others fled the scene.
“Items recovered from the suspects were two Barreta pistols, 19 rounds of live ammunition and a total sum of N250,000. A boxer motorcycle with reg No.FKJ 718 QH used by the robbers was also recovered.
“Effort is, however, on to apprehend other fleeing suspects while the victim of the armed robbery attack, who sustained a bullet wound from the attack, is recuperating in the hospital.
“The command remains resolute in ridding the state of criminal elements,” the statement added.
