The benefits of 4G LTE
Verizon Wireless lets federal personnel take
advantage of the latest mobile technologies to
communicate and collaborate. Building on the
availability of voice service over the nation’s
largest and most reliable wireless network, the
Verizon Wireless 3G and 4G LTE networks
enable workers to access the information they
need—including data and live video—helping
to boost agility and productivity.
4G LTE also delivers upload and download
speeds up to 10 times greater than our 3G
network and a roundtrip airlink latency below
50 ms. This combination of greater speeds
and lower latency makes high-resolution video
conferencing and large data-file transfers
possible on mobile devices, which helps get
critical information to the people who need it. These enhanced capabilities help improve
situational awareness and collaboration,
and support coordination with outside
departments, agencies and jurisdictions.
And 4G LTE is more than just speeds, latency
and devices. It’s also about network innovation.
The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is based
on an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core,
which simplifies the delivery of applications
and services through multiple networks.
The IMS core provides service compatibility
across a wide variety of network types,
including global wireline, wireless, fiber and
private networks. Our 4G LTE network’s all-IP,
flat, fiber-based backhaul enhances reliability
and on-demand scalability, which means it
can handle the demanding data loads federal
agencies require.
We’ve also designed our 4G LTE network
to be backwards compatible with current
network technologies, and to accommodate
future innovation. We support IPv6 Dual
Stack for both future growth and backwards
compatibility with existing IPv4 systems.

network enhancements, please see the

The Future of Mobile Broadband Technology.
