UTAZI IS USE FOR PERPARING NKWOBI WHICH PREVENTS STOMACH UPSET.

Utazi is an African herb that is used for the bitter taste it imparts in soups and stews. A tisane is also made from it.

The leaves are shiny and either pale or dark green when fresh.

Utazi is available frozen in North America and Europe at some African food stores. The leaves will go dark green when frozen.

Gongronema Latifolium [UTAZI] is widely used in West Africa for medicinal and nutritional purposes. In Southern part of Nigeria, where it is commonly grown, the Igbos call the plan Utazi, the Yoruba known it as Arokeke, Efik and Ibibio call it Urasi. Parts used fruits, seeds, leaves root and bark.

Medicinal uses of the whole plant (the leaves and sterms) is used in the home treatment of digestive problems, such as loss of appetite, dyspepsia, colic, stomacheache, constipation, dysentery and intestinal worms and also for the treatment of cough and malaria.
